Tahir Johnson, a native of Trenton, NJ, is set to open the town’s first adult-use cannabis dispensary later this year. This is a significant achievement for Tahir, whose parents saw all three of their sons arrested for cannabis-related offenses in the past. For Tahir, the opportunity to change perceptions of cannabis and make a difference for his family and community is a blessing.
New Jersey’s cannabis board awarded eleven conditional adult-use retail licenses on May 24th, 2022, with Tahir winning one of them for his business, Simply Pure Inc. The competition was intense, with over 1,000 applications received for all license types. Tahir also assisted longtime friend and social equity applicant, John Dockery, in securing his own conditional license for a second dispensary location.
As an advocate for equity in the cannabis industry, Tahir closely followed the progress of the New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission. He also worked tirelessly to build relationships and raise capital while pursuing his dream of becoming a dispensary owner.
