When you want to enjoy the benefits of cannabis without smoking, cannabis concentrates are a great way to get started. Concentrates offer a high THC percentage and can be used in many different ways. You can vaporize them, dab them, or even add them to food and drinks. In this guide, we’ll show you how to make your own cannabis concentrates at home.

What Is Marijuana Concentrate?

The term ‘cannabis concentrate’ is used to define a broad range of products. In general, cannabis concentrates are created by extracting the cannabinoids, terpenes, and other desirable compounds from the cannabis plant. The final product is a potent mixture that contains a higher concentration of these compounds than what you would find in the plant material on its own.

There are many different ways to make cannabis concentrates. The most popular methods include:

Solvent-based Extraction:

This method uses a solvent like butane, propane, or CO2 to strip the cannabinoids and other compounds from the plant material. Ideally, the solvent is then removed from the mixture, leaving behind a pure concentrate. However, some residual solvent may remain in the final product.

To make cannabis concentrates using this method, you’ll need:

• Cannabis trim or bud
• A solvent (butane, propane, CO2, etc.)
• An extraction tube or closed-loop system
• A collection jar

Procedure:

1. Fill your extraction tube or closed-loop system with cannabis trim or bud.

2. Add the solvent to the tube or system.

3. Turn on the extractor and allow it to run until all of the plant material has been dissolved.

4. Collect the concentrate in a jar.

5. Evaporate the solvent by placing the jar in a water bath or vacuum oven.

6. Enjoy your cannabis concentrate!

Rosin Extraction:

This method uses heat and pressure to extract the desired compounds from the plant material. Rosin is a type of cannabis concentrate that is made using this method. To make rosin, you’ll need:

• Cannabis trim or bud
• A hair straightener or rosin press
• Parchment paper

Procedure:

1. Preheat your hair straightener or rosin press.

2. Place a small amount of cannabis trim or bud on a piece of parchment paper.

3. Fold the parchment paper over the cannabis, making sure that it is completely enclosed.

4. Place the parchment paper in the hair straightener or rosin press and apply pressure.

5. Extract the rosin from the parchment paper.

6. Enjoy your cannabis concentrate!

Herbal Infusers:

Infusing your favorite herbs into tasty treats can seem intimidating, but thankfully there are a ton of Herbal Infusers on the market to make the process as easy as making a smoothie! The above methods can be fun to learn but also can require a lot of time, but with an Herbal Infuser you can start baking right out of the box. Making tincture, butter and oil as easy as pressing a literal button.

Cannabis concentrates offer a potent and convenient way to consume cannabis. With this guide, you now know how to make your own cannabis concentrates at home using either solvent-based or rosin extraction methods. Give it a try and enjoy your new cannabis concentrate!
